Ok, so here we’re going to take a look at some of the best camper steps for elderly RVers.
The entry height on many RVs is no joke, and as a consequence, this can be a challenge for some seniors (or anyone else with hip, knee or back issues for that matter).
Here I’ve come up with a few camper step solutions that might help.

Below are 5 reviews of what I consider to be the best camper step solutions for senior RVers.
Lippert Steps
⭐️Best Solid Steps
The Lippert solid step system is my choice as a permanently fixed step option.
The system comes in a 2, 3 or 4 step configuration, and is also available at 26” or 30” widths.
The aluminum treads are 8.5” deep with an extra large top step of 13” deep. The top step also has a built in kick plate to prevent damage to your RVs sidewall.
These steps have a weight capacity rating of 400 lbs.
The steps are fixed via a spring loaded hinge in the doorway of your camper and pull down very easily when you’re ready to use them.
The feet are independent of each other to allow for unlevel ground, and are easily adjusted.
The handrail for these steps is available to purchase separately, if installed will provide excellent support for entry into your camper. The handrail is adjustable and available in 3 different sizes.
Also available for these steps is the “Lift Assist” system, which has been recently improved to provide better support when stowing the steps.
What I like is the easy deployment and stow of these steps. The handrail and extra large top step are a big plus, as well as the optional Lift Assist system.

MORryde Solid Steps
⭐️#2 Solid Steps
MORryde offer a similar system to Lippert, with a few subtle differences.
The MORryde solid steps also have a 2, 3 or 4 step configuration, but they offer 3 different width options as opposed to the 2 offered by Lippert.
The step treads are slightly narrower at 8” wide, with the top step also being smaller at 10.5” wide.
The MORryde steps come out on top in the weight capacity department, and are rated to hold 500 lbs compared to Lipperts 400 lbs.
These steps are mounted in the same way, and fold away nicely into the your RV doorway.
Similar to Lippert, the MORryde’s steps also have adjustable feet and an optional handrail (purchase separately) which when mounted is very stable.
The handrail is available in 3 different sizes to suit how many steps you have, so if you order the MORryde steps, remember to pair the correct handrail with your size steps.
MORryde also has a lift assist system for their steps, which is available separately.

Tecretoare Portable Steps
⭐️Best Portable Steps
These portable steps are another great choice for easier entry into your camper.
They are available in a 2 step configuration, all the way up to a 6 step option.
The steps are approximately 27” wide and will take a maximum weight capacity of 400 lbs.
The frame bars are heavy gauge steel and have been beefed up for strength, and the lowest cross beam has been reinforced.
Assembly from scratch takes roughly 20 minutes. Once assembled, the steps can be easily stowed.
These steps are supplied with either 1 or 2 handrails depending on your preference, and are very stable when fitted.
Also supplied is a roll of anti slip tape, enough for the back and front of each tread.

Prime 1 Safety Step
⭐️Best Step Stool
For lower height entries this step stool I think is an excellent option.
The platform is extra large, and measures 19” x 14.5”, great for stability. The top is also covered in gripper tape.
The stool is capable of supporting up to 600 lbs.
It has rubber feet to ensure non-slip on every surface.
The legs are independently adjustable, and give the stool a height range of 7 ¾” – 9”.
The legs also fold away for easy storage and they have a carry handle on the side.
To aid visibility there is hi vis tape around the sides of the platform.
As an optional extra, you can order the stool with a detachable polyester rug which fixes to the platform.
If you are concerned about the initial step up to the platform, something like this half step would be a great help.

Extra Large Step

Camco Step Stool
⭐️#2 Step Stool
The well known outdoor equipment manufacturer also offers a good step up stool.
The stool is essentially the same as the Prime 1 stool with very slightly different dimensions.
This step up stool also has adjustable legs, giving you a height range of 7 ½ “ – 9”.
The platform measures 19” x 14 ½” and the legs are also foldable.
One of the main differences between the Prime 1 and the Camco stool is the weight capacity rating. This stool can support up to 1000 lbs!
